A step counter app tracks your steps via your smartphone and typically sets a goal on how many steps to reach per day. Most commonly the goal lies between 5000-10 000 steps daily, depending on what exercises you perform on top of walking.
Movesum, on the other hand, additionally shows an image of food with the equal amount of calories you’ve burned while walking. That way you learn how much you need to walk to burn off a beer/burger/dessert (hint: it takes quite a while and is not an efficient weight loss method) and get great motivation to stay away from processed, calorie-dense foods.

I can’t believe all the options in the food diary there are. Like, even generic food options from my local grocery store. I like the food plans it has an option, it has synced to my Fitbit, and has been user friendly. I’m excited to see how this plays out. I’m always a skeptic, but off to a great start!
