In our efforts to remain innovative and supportive of our users on their health journeys, we are proud to announce that Alona Pulde, MD and Matthew Lederman, MD, have joined our Health Advisory Board with the ambition of reversing disease using nutrition and lifestyle medicine, to help people live healthier and happier lives through food.

Well known for their appearance in the Forks Over Knives documentary and their best-selling book, The Forks Over Knives Plan, Dr. Pulde is a family practitioner, and Dr. Lederman is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician. 

Drs. Pulde and Lederman join existing Lifesum Health Advisory Board members Christina Meyer-Jax, MS, RDN, LDN and RYT and Andrew Zimmermann, Founder of Behavior Design Collective. Together, the Health Advisory Board will help Lifesum remain ready to meet the nutritional needs of our new and existing users. The Health Advisory Board’s combined expertise enables us to improve its existing services and develop new ones to meet users where they are, provide personalized nutritional recommendations, and support them through their health journey.  

The expertise of Dr. Alona Pulde and Dr. Matthew Lederman

Dr. Alona Pulde is a board-certified practitioner of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and Family Medicine Physician. Dr. Matthew Lederman is a board-certified Internal Medicine physician and Certified Nonviolent Communication Candidate. Drs. Pulde and Lederman specialize in reversing disease using nutrition and lifestyle medicine and created the lifestyle-improvement program used in their private medical center and Whole Foods Market Medical & Wellness Centers. Dr. Pulde and Dr. Lederman have been successful corporate leaders for Whole Foods Market, serving as Vice President of Health & Wellness and Vice President of Medical Affairs, respectively.

Here they created and directed a new self-insured health plan along with comprehensive primary care health and wellness centers that increased quality of care while decreasing cost in partnership with local health care systems. In conjunction with these systems, they partnered with the Whole Foods Market Human Resources department to assess wellness-related programs, apps, and tools for integration into the company's employee offerings. They also oversaw corporate health and wellness immersion programs educating employees on preventing and reversing disease through diet and lifestyle change.

About Drs. Pulde and Lederman

Drs. Pulde and Lederman were featured in the film Forks Over Knives, lectured for eCornell, served as adjunct professors and medical advisors, and co-authored the New York Times Bestseller Forks Over Knives Plan, Forks Over Knives Family, and Keep It Simple, Keep It Whole. They co-authored their most recent books, The Whole Foods Diet and The Whole Foods Cookbook, together with John Mackey, co-founder, and CEO of Whole Foods Market.  After 10 years of serving Whole Foods Market, Dr. Pulde and Dr. Lederman have moved on to cofound their latest venture, Kinectin.com. Touted as doctors of the future by Dean Ornish, MD and with their work supported by many experts, including Sanjay Gupta, MD, Dr. Alona Pulde and Dr. Matthew Lederman have combined conventional medicine, Chinese medicine, lifestyle medicine, and nonviolent communication to create their groundbreaking new health paradigm and Kinectin Coaching Program. Currently, they live in Southern California with their two daughters.
