It’s not that you don’t want to work out, it’s just that you really, really don’t.

It happens to all of us; somehow motivation evaporates and it’s a minute-by-minute struggle to get yourself to the gym or go out for a run.

I have a theory for why we lack the mojo, and you might not like it, but it’s definitely true for me and is likely the case for the vast majority of people who claim to not be motivated: we don’t want it enough.

Harsh? Potentially, but I think it’s the truth.

Think about it: Think about something (or someone) you really, really want. How far would you be willing to go to make sure you got it?

Money is one thing a lot of people would be willing to do almost anything for. The same can be said of fame. Even schooling; some people (a lot of people) put themselves through years and years of gruelling schedules and countless assignments for the addition of a few letters after their name. Madness right? But not when you really want something.

The trouble with working out is that the thing we want: to lose weight, have more energy, or be stronger; that thing is intangible, it’s not like money or a certificate. We can’t taste it or touch it or even see it; it shows up gradually.

But to a certain extent we all need something we can feel immediately in order to feel motivated. If you go to the gym tomorrow, you don’t want to have to wait months and months to see the result. You need something more immediate. Some people give themselves a physical reward, like a smoothie or a new pair of running shoes; whatever it is, it has to be something you believe is worth working for.

That’s why Lifesum created the 3-Week Weight Loss plan. It creates a realistic time-frame along with straightforward guidelines, to help you achieve weight loss you’ll notice in just three weeks. That’s not half-bad. And once you’ve seen what you can do in that short time frame, you’re guaranteed to feel motivated to continue.

All it takes is the sign of a little improvement and progress to inspire you to carry on.

What do you do to boost your motivation? Try Lifesum’s 3-Week Weight Loss plan. It’s available in the plans section of the app, and well worth giving a try; you’ll love the results.
