You’re at the salad bar, you know what you like, but you have no idea what to pick to make your salad balanced and healthy.

I know what you’re thinking, salad is almost synonymous with the word healthy so does it really matter? Well, you’re kind of right. Most of the options at the salad bar will provide you with a good amount of essential nutrients, and the foods you eat in order to nourish your body are far more important than the calories you cut. However, there is a way to optimize your salad and it’s actually really simple.

The key is to “not put all eggs in one basket”, meaning you take something from each of the food groups rather than just picking the carb-rich items or the calorie-dense toppings. For the perfect salad you want to pick something from each of the food groups. Follow this simple guide and you’re prepared like a pro before your colleagues shout “LUNCH”!
