Because fall isn’t fall without comfort food, knitwear, and orange leaves.

We’re not going to pretend these are the same as apple cider donuts, but if you’re craving a similar taste, this will hit the spot, keep you full, and keep you fall (see what we did there?).

It’s not the same thing, we know that. But it’s so much better. You can eat it for breakfast for goodness sake – there’s nothing that beats comfort food for breakfast. DE-FREAKING-LICIOUS. Chicken pot pie is a fall staple, let’s face it. The only way to improve it would be to reduce the fat and sodium content. So that’s what you do. ‘Sans’ just means without. Follow the Bon Appetit recipe linked above but skip the crust, and use a homemade chicken broth (just boil your chicken in lightly salted water, flavored with onions). And all of a sudden you can eat endless amounts. (Not quite, but close enough).

Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten the ultimate fall comfort-food. This alternative is low-carb. It’s low-effort. It’s low-calorie. But it is high on flavor and will leave you feeling high on life. Mozzarella contains 40 calories fewer per oz than cheddar… but still maxes out on flavor to leave you wanting more.
