A bowl of yogurt with granola isn’t going to cut it.
It’s 2pm. Your focus and energy are dissolving into thin air. You changed your playlist, you stood at your desk; nothing is working. You want sugar.
And then the real inner battle begins. Should I? Shouldn’t I? What happens if I do? What about my macros? How many calories did I eat for breakfast? Does this mean I have to eat a salad for dinner?
We wanted to get rid of the headache for you. Here are some snacks you can either whip up in 5 minutes at the office, or fix at home and bring with you for when the snack attack kicks in.
1. BANANA SPLIT
Who doesn’t love banana splits? You cut your banana in half, top it with some quark, cottage cheese or plain greek yogurt, drizzle with almond butter and honey, and sprinkle with some nuts. We really like this one.
Okay, this you’ll have to make in advance but our advice is this – make a big batch, then divvy it up into ziplock bags and take a bag with you to work or class each day. Sorted! This recipe has all of the clean, chocolatey, coconut goodness you’ll ever need!
3. CHOCOLATE MOUSSE
Feeling overwhelmed by the amount of chocolate in these recipes? Brace yourself. This chocolate mousse is rich in antioxidants, packed with protein, gluten-free, dairy-free, low-carb and vegan. AND you can make it in 5 minutes (you’ll need a blender though, so it’s probably best to do it at home). Apologies if this becomes your new favorite dessert, but don’t say we didn’t warn you.
4. SWEET POTATO TOAST
This doesn’t just have to be a candy alternative. It can be breakfast or dessert. Who makes the rules anyway? We love this because – it’s sweet, it’s filling, it’s nutritious, and it’s pretty damn straightforward to make. You need a toaster, sweet potato, a knife, some strawberries and a little coconut cream. Yes please! Get the recipe here.
5. OATMEAL MUFFINS
Here’s why oatmeal muffins are awesome: they’re gluten-free, they’re filling, and typically they really only require you to throw everything into a blender, like these. You can also freeze them and just take one out whenever you know you’re going to need one. Winning!
